Braava Jet M6

Braava Jet M6

iRobot approached the design team at fuseproject to conceptualize the next generation of their Braava Jet mopping robots. The goal was the creation of a design that elevated the great advances in technology and capabilities that the iRobot engineering team had achieved.

The new design would also communicate the precision and approachability that is core to the iRobot brand through the updated visual design language of the latest Braava Jet.

Project Role

Industrial Designer

We collaborated with the iRobot team to find the elements of the designs that resonated best with the brand. From this we refined and developed the form of the Braava Jet M6.

Design Considerations:

  • Rectilinear design - allows for better mopping coverage and connects design to other models in the product line.

  • Integrated handle that balances to make it easier to avoid contact with mopping pad

  • Angular front bumper that implies strong and deep cleaning power, as well as forward motion and speed.

  • Larger tank capacity for greatly increased coverage between refills.

  • Low profile to fit under chairs and furniture.

The fuseproject team presented the client with an initial range of options that emphasized the speed, power, and cleaning upgrades.

These options all worked to and give a sense of continuity with previous mopping robots in the line, and showcase how the M6 was the most advanced iRobot Braava yet.
